Brooks Full View flowmeters series GT1000 are ideally suited for flow measurement of gases and liquids in applications where glass measuring tubes are suitable. The GT1000 units have higher flow capacities than the GT1350/55 and GT1305 products. The high degree of corrosion resistance achieved in these instruments, combined with O-Ring seal tube construction, makes them suitable for chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, water treatment and other industries.

GT1305 flowmeters are low cost instruments intended for general metering installations where flow rate indication is required and use of borosilicate glass metering tubes is acceptable. The instruments can be supplied with brass or 316 stainless steel threaded end fittings and are suitable for use on gases or liquids.

The SHO-RATE series of flow indicators provide an economical means of flow rate indication and control for general plant use, laboratory and analytical applications. The MT3809 Metal Tube Flowmeter is a rugged, highly reliable and accurate, yet inexpensive, flowmeter providing flow rate indication at elevated pressures. Indication is provided by means of a magnetic coupling between the float and a rotatable magnet in the rear of the indicator housing, moving the pointer on the front of the indicator housing. The technology, design and construction have made this flowmeter the standard for offshore use all over the world, and for the most critical process plant duties.

MT3809 Metal Tube Flowmeters are available for use on gas and liquids, in line sizes from 0.5"/10mm to 2"/50mm. The basic visual indicator unit can be upgraded to provide a 4-20mA transmitter output with HART communications or optionally to have alarm outputs.

Rotameters are utilised for the flowrate measurement of most liquids and gases with direct readout of flowrate. A special ""float"" is fitted within a tapered glass tube. With the flow vertically upward through the  meter, the float settles at a position where its mass is balanced by the upward forces of the flow through the annulus between the tube and float. The greater the flow the higher the float rises to increase the annulus and balance. The top edge of the float is read against the scale, giving an instantaneous reading of the flow rate. Various methods of alarm output are available for signalling low or high flow conditions.

The metal tube 250 series variable area flowmeter is a specially designed instrument for measuring the flow if liquids and gases. Its robust design makes it highly suitable for use on hazardous and corrosive applications as found in most industrial processes.

Principle

The instrument must be mounted in a vertical pipe with fluid circulation in the upwards direction. The self guiding cylindrical float is positioned inside a tapered tube. When the flow passes through the meter the float rises to a position of equilibrium where the weight of the float is balanced by the net force due to the fluid pressure. The float is magnetically coupled to a pointer indicating the rate of flow on the front scale.

Description

The instrument comprises:

w A body formed in stainless steel with fixed flange connection

w A stainless steel or an alloy float fitted with a magnet, with guide rods at each end

w Two end stops in stainless steel used as a guide for the float
